Virginia City Depot Information Center
Virginia City Depot Information Center and Gift Store is a one-stop source for what to do, where to stay and restaurants in Alder Gulch. This is also the stopping point for the train between Virginia City and Nevada City. This Northern Pacific railroad depot, originally built in 1895 at Harrison, Montana was moved here in 1964. The depot is used as an information center by the Montana Heritage Commission. Visit displays and exhibits about our town. View videos about the history and events.
A gift store on one side offers book, Alder Gulch souvenirs and train tickets for the train to Nevada City (1.5 miles). Weekdays ride the smaller No. 8 train. On weekends ride the fully refurbished 1910 Baldwin steam locomotive.
