Notch Cabin
There is a $25 a night usage fee. This is a remote cabin. Access by road with a 4-wheel drive vehicle. The cabin is located in the notch of the Snowcrest Mountain range, not far from the Robb-Ledford game management area. Used primarily in the fall, the area is great for hiking, although there are no Forest Service trails nearby. One room cabin with two beds, cookstove with propane canister and propane lights, woodstove for heat. There is no water. An outhouse is adjacent to the cabin.
Directions
Located approximately 57 miles from Sheridan, Montana via the Sweetwater Road and Springbrook Creek. The access requires four-wheel drive and travel is very slow and very rough. Driving time from Sheridan is over three hours. Driving time for the last nine miles is an hour. If the roads are wet with rain or snow, access may not be possible. Due to the high elevation of the cabin and short growing season, recreational livestock are not allowed unless supplemental feed (certified weed free) is brought in. Cabin renters would have to bring electric fencing. There is no pasture for livestock. The SW MT interagency visitor/travel East half map is necessary to locate the roads and cabin. The map may be purchased by calling the Madison Ranger District at 406-682-4253.
