Bell Lake Yurt

The Bell Lake Yurt, strategically positioned at 8500 ft just below the lake off the Bell Lake Trail, offers a moderate approach and undisturbed alpine glisse opportunities right out the door.

Mountaineers and meadow skippers alike will find it all in the Bell Lake cirque and adjacent drainages. The massive face of Branham Peak dominates the view from the yurt, its tight, long couloirs and steep lines subjects for hours of study from the windows while making dinner or relaxing inside. Above the lake, the bowls of the Bell Lake cirque have easy route finding, mellow powder pitches, and plenty of vert, while nicely spaced trees and hidden slots lie just off the back of the yurt for deep turns on storm days. Day tours and ridge hikes offer further possibility for exploration of the range within relative proximity.

The Bell Lake Yurt is a new 20' diameter, canvas structure offering accommodations for up to 6 guests. Yurts are a modern variation of the ancient shelters used by central Asian travelers in the mountains of Mongolia, Siberia and Russia for centuries. Yurts are known to withstand extreme conditions from high winds and snowfall and well insulated to stay warm and cozy in temps below -40o Fahrenheit.

Montana Backcountry Adventures offers two options: a guided, catered backcountry experience trip, or a self-guided, self sufficient yurt rental option. Please see our website www.skimba.com for details.
