Bear Creek Trail (17) takes off from a spur road near the Whitetail Ranch on the North Fork of the Blackfoot Road. It is a Bob Marshall, Scapegoat Wilderness access. It goes near, not to Bear Lake.

Take Highway 200. 6 miles east of Ovando take the North Fork of the Blackfoot Road, drive North until you pass the turnoff for the Whitetail Ranch. Look for the trail sign for Bear Lake Trail. The best map for this route is the Lolo Forest Travel Plan, Seeley Lake District Map.
